Kalon Barnes has been getting tons of attention for his speed, and rightfully so.
The Silsbee Junior won state in the 100 and 200 meter dash. Setting a state record in the 100 meter.
Now he has gone from facing the best in the state, to the best in the country.
After competing in a track camp in Oregon, the fastest man in 4A went to Boston to compete in the adidas Boost Boston Games. He would be facing off against the other fastest high school times in the country in the 100 meter dash. Including the national record holder Anthony Schwartz from Florida.
Barnes ran in lane one. Two lanes down from the record holder. The two would be neck and neck until the very end, but Barnes would pull it out with a time of 10 34.
He will bring the belt back to Southeast Texas.
