Coming into Saturday, only two out of five Southeast Texas teams remained in the high school football playoffs, after West Orange-Stark and Newton won their third round matchups. The Port Neches-Groves Indians would try to make it three teams if they could beat the College Station Cougars in Humble.
Unfortunately the Indians couldn't get the job done, losing 66 to 40. PN-G would get down early after touchdowns from Dada Anderson and Marquez Perez for the Cougars. The Indians would come back to make it 14 to 7 but that is as close as they would get all day. Anderson would add two more touchdowns in the first half and the Cougars would go in to the half with a 38 to 14 lead and they wouldn't let up in second half.
PN-G's Roschon Johnson would pass for 273 yards and run for 206 more, accounting for 5 total touchdowns. However, he would also throw two uncharacteristic interceptions. Preston Riggs would add 9 receptions for 129 yards and a touchdown.
College Station will move on to play, Fort Bend Marshall on Dec. 9th in Waller.
