Troy Williams scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Houston Rockets to a 99-94 victory against the Phoenix Suns, in the Las Vegas Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Monday.

The Rockets (2-1) outscored the Suns, 59-41, in the second half, taking the lead for good on a pair of Williams free throws with 4:03 remaining after nine ties and 10 lead changes. Houston's defense led the charge, posting 11 steals and six blocks while holding the Suns (1-2) to 40.3 percent shooting from the field.

Williams, who also had six rebounds, went to the foul line 11 times, converting 10. Isaiah Taylor totaled 18 points and eight assists, while Chris Johnson finished with 16 points and five steals on 5-of-7 shooting.

Marquese Chriss led Phoenix with 26 points and seven rebounds. First-round pick Josh Jackson totaled 20 points, six rebounds and three assists.

MIKE JAMES started at point guard and had 17 points, four rebounds and five assists. Dragan Bender finished with 12 points and six rebounds.

Both teams play Wednesday in the summer league playoffs with opponents to be determined.
