'I want to be a 409 hero': West Brook senior named McDonald's All American Game nominee

Lady Bruin senior Jacei Denley says she's grateful for the chance to represent her hometown.

BEAUMONT, Texas — West Brook Senior Jacei Denley is a McDonald's All American Game nominee. She is one of 93 Texas players nominated to play in the game and the only female from the area this year.

In Nov. 2022, Denley signed to continue her career on the court at Lamar because she says she wants to keep her talent local.

"I just can't do it without my teammates," Denley said. "We work hard every day in practice. We always fight hard. My coach, she always pushes us every day, so it just takes the pressure off of me knowing I've got people around me that are also willing to work very hard. I'm just grateful."

"I want to be a 409 hero so that's what I'm gonna do," Denley said. "I'm gonna put on for the city. Just work hard, make my parents proud, make my family proud, my friends proud, and I'm just gonna show out for Lamar show out for my coaches and future teammates, and just do the thing."

Along with Jacei, Beaumont United's Wesley Yates is also a Nominee.

The games' committee will announce the top 24 girls and 24 boys selected to the final roster on Tuesday, Jan. 24, between 3-4 in the afternoon.
