(WFLA) A Florida man has been arrested, accused of abusing and killing a miniature 12-pound Dachshund.

Deputies say 24-year-old Stacy Glover was arrested after he was asked to watch the dog, "Athena" at its home. Glover told them the dog ran away, however home surveillance video showed Glover physically abusing Athena, throwing her out the back door several feet from the home.

After the dog attempted to hide under patio furniture, deputies say Glover chased, captured and began beating her with his fist. Glover then picked her up by the throat and carried the dog back into the home. Later, he is seen carrying the lifeless dog out the back door and into a nearby wooded area. He returns a short time later without the dog.

Deputies say the dog's remains were not found but the excessive force would very likely cause serious, if not fatal injuries.
He's been charged with four felony counts of Aggravated Cruelty to an Animal and one felony count of Tampering with Evidence. He is currently being held at the Sarasota County Jail on $50,000 bond.
