Three people are dead following a helicopter crash near the Lake Charles Regional Airport.

The accident happened shortly before noon Friday about four miles southeast of the Airport. A Cameron Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson said three people, the pilot and two passengers, were all killed in the accident.

The deceased are identified as William R. Croucher, 69, of California, Timothy Llyod Goehring, 41, of Louisiana and Michael Lee Tyree, 55, of Louisiana.

NBC affiliate KPLC is reporting the aircraft was operated by Era Helicopters based at the Lake Charles Regional Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration is at the accident site and has begin its investigation.

Details of the accident have not yet been released.
