An annual program aimed at teaching teens the hazards of drunk driving was held at Silsbee High School this morning.

The Shattered Dreams program is a simulation designed to allow teens to experience the effects of a drunk driving accident.

Organizers used two wrecked cars to simulate the accident; then four students pretended to be either dead or injured.

The entire simulation was performed to show exactly how responders would work on a drunk driving scene, complete with police and a rescue helicopter.

To give their piers the full experience of losing a classmate, the "dead" students will not return to class today and a memorial service will be held tomorrow.

The Shattered Dreams program is held at a different school every year.
