Life plus twenty years.
That's the sentence handed down in Judge John Stevens court for Rey Barrera. He was convicted this week of stabbing Stiles unit correctional officer David Logan in the eye.
The 2012 attack happened while Logan was escorting Barrera back to his cell.
Prosecutors say Barrera was able to slip out of his hand restraints and stab Logan all the way to his brain.
Logan survived the attack.
Barrera was already serving a 115 year sentence for various crimes, including aggravated assault, robbery, and attempted murder.
