Port Arthur police are investigating a possible kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman by a man she met on social media.

Police say the 19-year-old woman met the 34-year-old man on Facebook. The man came to the woman's house in the 2300 block of 6th Street and asked her to come out and talk. According to police, the woman was convinced by the man to climb into the car. Police say they then began driving towards Lake Jackson and the woman was sexually assaulted along the way.

Police say they began searching for the woman and had help from Lake Jackson Police and Brazoria County Sheriff's Office. The man was found to be in Lake Jackson, and at that time, police say it appears the man drove the woman to the area of the Medical Center in Houston.

Police say the woman walked into the Texas Children's Hospital and found a police officer to whom she reported the attack.

Police say the woman suffered minor injuries and was reunited with her family Thursday night.

The mother of the woman says she was able to track the woman's every location because they are on the same cell phone plan with the same carrier.

"I see everything. That's why I say to police 'please help me. My daughter is parking lot," she said.

The mother tells 12News "I feel bad because the person that had her. I'm scared. I'm relieved. I'm happy now because her body wasn't found bad. She's still alive."

The suspect is cooperating with authorities but was not under arrest and is not considered to be a flight risk.
