Orange police are investigating a bank robbery.

Officers Wednesday morning were called to the Chase Bank in the 3100 block of 16th Street where the robbery had just occurred.

A spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office told 12 News the robbery happened just after 11 a.m., but did not have any other information on the case because it was being handled by the Orange Police Department.

The Orange Police Department issued the following news release shortly after 3 p.m.:

On Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at 1119 Hrs., Officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to 3109 North 16th Street, Chase Bank, in reference to a robbery.

Upon arrival at 11:20 Hrs., Officers were advised that a white male entered the bank and demanded money. The white male left the bank and got into a 2000 model, Ford F-150, single cab pickup, with an undetermined amount of money. The pickup was last observed traveling North on 16th Street towards Interstate 10. It is believed the pickup went into Louisiana on Interstate 10. The white male was accompanied in the pickup by a white female.

This investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the City of Orange Police Department Investigative Division.
