KERR COUNTY, Texas -- A man accused of killing and dismembering his wife in 1990 escaped from a mental hospital facility in San Antonio, according to the Kerr County Sheriff's Office.
Gary Charles Ligon, 62, was found not guilty by reason of insanity for the murder of his wife.
He was ordered to a maximum security state hospital, as KENS 5 previously reported.
Ligon reportedly walked away from a state facility Sunday. His family and law enforcement in Kerr County are concerned about his disappearance.
Ligon was accused of murdering his estranged wife and chopping her body into pieces on June 1, 1990.
He was committed to a state mental hospital after he was tried.
This is reportedly not the first time he escaped, and the Kerr County Sheriff's Office considers him a risk to the public.
You are asked to contact police if you see him, or have any information that could lead to his recovery.
