Residents of Bevil Oaks are on high alert and sometimes armed. Many have been complaining about potential looters who may be targeting Harvey victims.

According to the Bevil Oaks City Hall, 25 homes are still vacant after the August storm and some residents say they are staying "on the lookout. “

Last week, a resident watched one suspicious event from her own front yard. She says the driver of a pickup pulled into a neighbor’s driveway with no headlights which appeared the person was considering a crime.

“To have to worry about somebody coming in and taking all of your stuff while you’re trying to rebuild is frustrating,” said Barbara Emmons, a Bevil Oaks resident.

Kimberley Vander, the Bevil Oaks City Secretary, says that residents should call the Hardin County sheriff's office if they see anything suspicious.
