A Vidor woman is facing an intoxication assault charge after flipping her car early Saturday morning.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers say shortly after midnight, Bonnie Wallace, 31, was driving northbound on US 96 just north of Silsbee.

Troopers believe Wallace was intoxicated when her Chevrolet passenger car began to veer off the roadway. Investigators say she overcorrected causing the car to rollover several times.

The passenger in the car, Joe David Scott, 34, of Buna, was taken by ambulance to Christus Southeast Texas Hospital St. Elizabeth with serious injuries. Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.

Wallace was not injured. She was arrested at the scene and booked into the Hardin County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.
