The Southeast Texas Veteran Service group is looking for more volunteers.
Quartermaster Michael Campise served in the Army for two decades. He said the group which has been around since 1986 does 35 events annually.
He said the most important service they provide is funerals. He said they have done 205 funerals already this year.
"We are looking for veterans that are interested in paying a final tribute to their fallen brothers and sisters in arms,” Campise said. “We believe these veterans deserve this. They gave a portion of their life and put their life on hold to serve our country for the freedoms we enjoy today to protect our constitution."
He said there are 61 members but only 34 regularly volunteer, many of which have to step up and do double or triple duty to make sure events and funerals go off without a hitch.
"It means a lot to me to be able to pay my respects to pay a final tribute to these soldiers and veterans that have dedicated their life for this country,” Campise said.
He said the volunteer group is looking for serious volunteers only because uniforms can cost up to $1,200.
Civilians that want to help out can find that information on their website.
