Parkdale Mall announced late Wednesday that the mall will be closed for Thanksgiving Day.

In an effort to "bring back the excitement of Black Friday," CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., the owner of Parkdale, announced in a release that all of their market dominant regional shopping centers will be closed Thanksgiving Day and will reopen at 6 a.m. on Black Friday. November 25.

The company also wanted to give it's mall staff a chance to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with their families according to the release.

Any of Parkdale Mall's "anchor stores" that have their own entrance or are located in the mall parking lot will have the option to be open on Thanksgiving Day.

Access to the mall common areas will be restricted until 6 a.m. Friday, November 25.

These anchor stores include Dillard's, JCPenney, Macy's and Sears as well as the movie theater and restaurants in the mall parking lot.

A message from CBL & Associates Properties president Stephen Lebovitz is posted on the Parkdale Mall website explaining the decision.

The Parkdale Mall website will add an updated list of which "anchor stores" will be open on Thanksgiving.
