Some southeast Texas men known for their bravery showed a compassionate side, giving a huge check to help southeast boys in need of nurturing and inspiration.

Jeff Nesom, Vice President of Beaumont Firefighters Local IAFF 399, proudly gave Boys’ Haven a check for $5,000. The funds were raised by firefighters through the 2017 Celebrity Firefighter Calendar. The calendar raises money for charity work in the area.

“We hope to produce a calendar bi-annually to support local charities” said Nesom.

The Calendars were sold at Texas Market Basket stores and other local businesses. Twelve firefighters agreed to give their time and services by posing for the calendar.

Boys ages 5 to 17 are served by Boys' Haven. The non-profit, charitable institution is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The website of Boys’ Haven says many of the boys helped by the organization come from single-parent homes and are in need of a more structured environment. Some of the boys need long-term assistance and will stay at Boys’ Haven through high school graduation.
