After years of horseback riding and training with bulls Sam Moake was a natural in the rodeo arena, but none of that could've prepared her for what would happen Tuesday.
Nella Newman, Sam's mom, says her daughter was stomped twice by a bull after being thrown off while participating in a "Bible and Bulls" at a Buna church.
While on her way home she felt unusual pain and was taken to the doctor.
"Jasper realized really quickly within 20 minutes that we needed to be flown here to St. Elizabeth and she was in surgery within 15 minutes", Newman said.
Sam suffered injuries to her lungs, spleen, and pancreas.
"When the bull stepped on her it actually severed her pancreas ninety percent. Literally cut it off, the spine cut it in two", her mom said.
Newman says through it all Sam has remained in good spirits, and her family appreciates all of the love and support they've gotten from the community.
