Employees of a north Beaumont business are rattled, but no injuries have been reported following an armed robbery early Monday morning.

The robbery happened around 7:30 a.m. at Fuddruckers located at 4545 Dowlen Road. According to police, two disguised gunmen got in through an unlocked side door. They locked a female employee into a back room, then forced the manager to open a safe. The robbers grabbed cash, then fled in an older model Ford Explorer.

Onye Jiekegha has lived in north Beaumont for six years. She spoke to 12News Monday as she arrived for lunch. She said she was surprised to find it closed, but not shocked that a robbery happened. She talked about the recent violent crimes in north Beaumont.

"We have to be watchful. This is a beautiful country where we are supposed to be free. You shouldn't have to watch the people around you and worry," she told 12News.

Beaumont Police Officer Carol Riley said the getaway vehicle may have Indiana Plates.
