The Golden Nugget Casino in Lake Charles is celebrating their construction progress for their new tower.

The “Rush Tower” will have 353 hotel rooms that are 500 square feet each. The building will also include three pool villa suites and 24 corner suites.

“It’s very Vegas, like if you don’t have two days to go on a plane to Las Vegas than this is your alternative,” said Golden Nugget General Manager Gerry Del Prete.

Construction workers started building the tower at the end of March. Del Prete said he started the $100 million project after he saw an increase in demand.

"85 percent of our customers come from out of state so we are excited,” said Del Prete. “Predominately Texas, particularly that Houston MSA area is important to us."

To celebrate the final stages of the project, construction workers were treated to lunch and got to participate in the topping off ceremony. During the ceremony, a spruce tree and American flag were raised to the top of the tower.

"We got a lot of dedicated construction folks from the entire region," said Senior Project Manager Matt McGovern. "They are from Texas, Louisiana, Florida and North Carolina.”

Del Prete said the project will finish in the spring of 2017.
