Hardin County deputies are investigating after oilfield workers near Sour Lake found a body near a well site.

Deputies recovered the body of a man and transported the body to the Jefferson County Morgue for an autopsy according to a release from the Hardin County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say they have reason to believe the body may be James Alvin Hornes, 72, who was reported missing in Sour Lake on January 20, 2018.

No cause of death is known and investigators say the man's body appeared to have been there for an "extended period of time."

Deputies found a bicycle near the body that appears to be similar to one that Hornes was known to ride around Sour Lake on.

The sheriff's office did not release more information pending the receipt of autopsy results.

Anyone with information concerning the case is asked to contact the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office at 409-246-5100.
