FROM THE BEAUMONT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT |

BISD Parents,

In lieu of the recent tragedy in Florida, please know that there is an increased awareness of safety protocols and procedures on our campuses. We have heightened our safety and security measures to ease concerns and ensure that all our students and staff are safe. We want to relieve the minds of the BISD community and assure you that we will do everything in our power to maintain the safety of our campuses.

There have been allegations of weapons on two Beaumont ISD campuses. We want to inform parents that no weapons were found and assure students, parents and the Beaumont community that our top priority is keeping our schools safe. If an incident occurs, the district has an Emergency Management Plan in place that addresses crisis situations and others that campuses can potentially face during day-to-day operations.

Today several secondary campuses participated in Intruder Lockdown drills with others are scheduled for tomorrow. In addition, the district is partnering with the Beaumont Police Department to begin the process of training district team members in Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE). We also have partnerships with the Beaumont Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriffs and Constables offices for additional personnel when needed to manage the safety needs of our schools.

We ask that parents encourage students to make good choices and inform school

administration immediately if they are made aware of potential situations that could jeopardize the safety of anyone on campus. We thank you for your continued support of our efforts and please feel free to contact your school if you have additional questions.
