The keen nose of Beaumont Police K-9 Sugar helped officers find around 3 kilos of cocaine Tuesday evening. Officers were working on IH-10 near MM 838. They stopped a white, 2015, Jeep Latitude with Florida plates, for a traffic violation. K-9 Sugar assisted with the stop.

A small, “user amount” of suspected powder cocaine and methamphetamine were found inside the vehicle. Officers, with the help of Sugar, found the rest of the suspected powder cocaine hidden inside the front driver and passenger doors.

The driver, Quincy Reno Brown, 37, of Jacksonville, Florida, was arrested. He was booked in to the Jefferson County jail for possession of a controlled substance. His bond is set at $100,000.
