If you notice police activity around any Beaumont high schools and middle schools on Thursday and Friday there may be no need to be alarmed.

The Beaumont Independent School district will be conducting "lockdown intruder drills" on all of its high school and middle school campuses according to a release from the district.

The drills come just over a week after 17 students were killed in a school shooting in Florida.

Officers with the Beaumont ISD Police Department will direct the drills which were also mentioned in a post on the district's Facebook page.
