107 bottles of Testosterone, 303 grams of Xanax found during traffic stop

The Jefferson county sheriff's office seized over 100 bottles of testosterone and over 300 grams of xanax during a traffic stop last night.

At 7:56 p.m. a deputy responded to a call about a reckless driver on I-10.

The deputy stopped the driver, Joshua Abshire on the highway near mile marker 845.

During the stop, the deputy noticed the driver was acting suspicious and believed he had contraband in his vehicle.

A K-9 conducted a search and the deputy seized 107 bottles of testosterone and 303 grams of xanax.

Abshire was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawfully carrying a weapon.

He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail.

On Saturday March 10, 2018 at 7:56pm, Deputy Hazleton was dispatched to IH-10 in references to a reckless driver. Once in the area she located the vehicle, which was speeding and tailgating other vehicles. The vehicle was stopped at IH-10 and mile marker 845. The driver was identified as Joshua Abshire. During the traffic stop, Deputy Hazleton noticed that Abshire was extremely nervous when she spoke with him and his answers to her questions did not match what she observed in the vehicle. Based on her suspicion that there was contraband in the vehicle she asked for consent to search, Abshire denied consent. A K-9 was requested to conduct a search. A State Trooper and his K-9 arrived and conducted an open-air search around the vehicle. The K-9 gave a positive alert. Based on probable cause a search of the vehicle was conducted and 107 bottles of Testosterone, 303 grams of Xanax and a pistol were found. Abshire was arrested for two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance and one count of Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, he was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
