Friends and family of Jamarcus Myers had to hold back tears Saturday as they paid their respects to the high school senior who died Easter morning in a car crash.

Hundreds came to the funeral at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Silsbee, including nearly all of Myers' former teammates from the Silsbee High football team, wearing their jerseys in remembrance. The small church was so packed that many had to stand, some all the way back in the foyer.

Silsbee H.S. head football coach Bobby McGallion spoke to the crowd, telling them Myers may not have been the biggest or fastest player, but one who gave his best each and every Friday.

Myers' older sister also spoke. Fighting tears, she said her younger brother was more like an older brother because he taught her so much and always gave her comfort when she need it.

Friends said Myers was someone who provided humor, comfort, and security.
