A man wanted for a homicide and aggravated assault in Harris County led Beaumont police on a chase that stretched over 100 miles and ended an hour later in Houston Friday night.

Officers in Beaumont were attempting to make a traffic stop because the driver of a gray Suzuki SUV was swerving and it appeared he was drunk. When officers turned on their lights and tried to get the SUV to stop, the driver sped off.

Beaumont police followed him along Interstate 10 into Chambers County, and that's where Department of Public Safety troopers took over the pursuit into Houston. Speeds in the chase exceeded 100 miles per hour. Chambers County Sheriff's Deputies, Baytown police officers and Houston police officers joined in on the chase.

The chase finally came to an end on 610 at MLK in Houston.

Officers found a handgun inside the SUV.

As of 7 a.m. Saturday the identity of the man has not been released.
