Nederland fire officials were wrestling with a very discouraging situation Wednesday night after a virtually new fire truck caught fire.

It happened at 2700 Avenue H in Nederland.

Sources say the fire on a "pumper truck," worth between $60,000 and $80,000, had to be put out by another fire response vehicle.

The cause of the fire is believed to be "electrical" in nature.

The truck was mostly used for medical calls.

The department says this will not hurt its ability to fight fires.

No one was hurt in the fire.
