The Vidor Police Department is showing of the newest member of the force.
In a Facebook post Tuesday the department shared a photo of their newest officer, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois they are temporarily calling "Officer Crime Fighter."
The department plans to hold a naming contest to name their new K9 officer who won't actually hit the streets until February 2018 according to the post.
Vidor officer Ethan Mansfield will be traveling to Kerrville too train with "Officer Crime Fighter" according to Vidor chief Rod Carroll.
The dog will be trained for narcotics, tracking and handler protection according to Carroll.
"Officer Crime Fighter" is looking forward to meeting the criminals of Vidor according to the post.
