Jefferson County deputies arrested mother traveling with her 18-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son Wednesday after finding more than 40 pounds of marijuana in her car.

On 06/14/2017 at approximately 4:00 p.m. Deputies with the JCSO Traffic Unit conducted a traffic stop on IH10 near Smith Road.

The vehicle was being driven by 38 year old Benina Villarreal of Rio Grande City, Texas. She had her 18 year old daughter and her 9 year old son as passengers.

While speaking to Villarreal, Deputies became suspicious and requested consent to search her vehicle.

Consent was given and Deputies discovered 17 bundles (42 lbs.) of Marijuana concealed in panels.

The street value is estimated at $84,000.00.

Villarreal was booked into the Jefferson County jail on the charge of Possession of Marijuana and the bond was set at $25,000.00.

The car and the child was released to the 18 year old daughter.
