A Jasper Police officer is being recommended for termination following her indictment on sexual assault of a child in a neighboring county.
Officer Lacie Jackson, who is currently on administrative leave, was indicted on the charges in Sabine County on September 28, 2017, according to a release from the Jasper Police Department.
The alleged incident happened in February 2016 before Jackson's employment with the department and was reported after she began working for the department the release said.
Because of the timing of the reporting of the incident it was not discovered during Jackson's background investigation prior to her employment according to the release.
Jackson was put on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation after the Texas Rangers notified the police department on August 23, 2017, that she was under investigation for the incident the release said.
Jasper Police Chief Gerald Hall will recommend that Jackson be terminated due to her indictment being a violation of the Jasper Police Department’s Rules of Conduct the release said.
The Jasper City Charter requires that the city council approve terminations within the police department.
The Texas Rangers conducted the investigation according to the release.
