A Jefferson County jury is deliberating the fate of a defendant in a 2013 murder at a Beaumont motel.
Cameron Frank, 23, is charged with capital murder in the death of Kendra Crump. 27.
Jurors received the case after three days of testimony including testimony from Frank, who took the stand Thursday and denied responsibility for the fatal shooting of Crump at the Knights Inn off of Interstate 10 in Beaumont.
Frank testified that two other men, one a friend of his and one a friend of hers, were wrestling over a weapon when the gun fired striking her in the chest.
Frank's friend had driven with him to the hotel to meet Crump and prosecutors allege that Frank had met Crump on BackPage.com and had planned to rob her.
Jeremy Spears, who was identified as a friend of Krump's and one of the men fighting over the weapon by Frank, took the stand and testified that Frank had struck him from behind in the motel room causing a large gash.
Prosecutors argued that Spears' blood was found on Frank's shirt and corroborated Spears' testimony.
A friend of Frank’s testified that she saw Frank go into the motel hours before Crump was murdered.
She said Frank told her he was planning to rob a prostitute he had found on the Backpage website.
Deliberation will continue Friday morning.
