Beaumont Police Officer Haley Morrow says that police did and will continue to do whatever they can to bring the Teel family some closure.

Officer Haley Morrow says that first responders were attempting CPR on Kera Teel on their way to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

"They did everything they could to try and keep her and that baby alive," Morrow said.

Teel delivered Kyndal Jae Teel, but they both died from their injuries after Teel was shot in the parking lot at Sienna Apartments around 1:55 a.m. Tuesday morning.

“It's a capital murder," Officer Morrow said.

Jefferson County District Attorney Bob Wortham says if this case goes to court, state law would allow them to pursue capital murder for the deaths of two people.

"What the jury would have to find, they'd have to make a finding, we'd indict it as two murders, and they would have to find him guilty of both murders in order for it to be a capital murder case," Wortham said.

Before this case goes to a court of law, Officer Morrow says finding all parties responsible is the top priority.

"There are at least three, but probably more people know who's involved in this."
