Groves authorities Friday searched an area off 32nd Street for two dogs after a child received bites from both animals.

Groves Animal Control and fire department responded to a home located on Elm Avenue near 32nd just before 11 a.m. Friday. Officials say two dogs bit a 10-year-old child before running away.

The boy was rushed to the hospital by his grandfather.

The grandfather said the dogs were pit bulls, but authorities say they are not sure what type of dogs were involved.

The boy had gashes on his arm, leg, foot and chest area. He is recovering at a local hospital.

Groves has a leash law and citizens can faces charges if animals are not on a leash or in a fence.
