A Carnival spokesperson said maintenance carried out while the Carnival Magic was sailing to the Caribbean required the ship to move slowly, but there will be no change to its arrival time at the Port of Galveston.

Vance Gulliksen with Carnival said that on Thursday, while the Carnival Magic was sailing in the Caribbean, the ship had to undergo some routine maintenance which required that some of the vessel's engines be shut down for a period of time. He said the vessel sailed at a slow rate of speed while the work was taking place.

Gulliksen said all of the ship's safety and hotel systems continued to operate as normal, and once the repair work was done, the Carnival Magic resumed sailing and is expected to arrive in its home port of Galveston on Sunday morning as scheduled.
