Beaumont Police have questioned two men in connection with the shooting of a Bridge City man. One has been arrested on unrelated warrants and police say they have identified a person of interest.

It started when officers say they stopped a sedan on Interstate 10 just after 2 p.m. Thursday. Inside the car were four people, one with a gunshot wound to the head. An officer escorted the vehicle to Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth where the 22-year-old Bridge City man was listed in critical condition as of 10 p.m. Thursday.

Police learned a shooting happened on the 10000 block of Gage Street just south of Tram Road.

Police surrounded the area and swept it with K-9 units. While the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office searched from the sky with a chopper.

Eventually officers detained the two men on Gage Street where the shooting happened.

It was the second day in a row officers had to create a perimeter and search for a suspect in Beaumont.

"That causes us concern, I'm sure there's fear in the community. What we ask is for as a police department is prayers and their active support as well," Sgt. Rob Flores with the Beaumont Police Department said.

Officers say all four people that were in the victim's car were family members.

Police weren't able to tell us to what extent they were all related. Anyone with information is asked to call crime stoppers at (409) 833-TIPS (8477.)

More updates, if any, will be released Friday after 10 a.m.
