Beaumont Attorney Mike Getz posted on the facebook page "BISD Board Watch" that his office is accepting donations for his three clients to seek legal representation in Washington D.C.

In the post Getz says Beaumont Independent School District trustees will vote Monday to file court action in Washington D.C. seeking immediate pre-clearance for the May 11, 2013 election.

Getz says his clients will likely be a part of the case and will need legal counsel.

He says on the facebook post that "This is going to cost money. I have received pledges and cash totaling nearly $10,000.00 so far but we are going to need more,"

Getz represents Linda Gilmore, Donna Forgas, and Marcelino Rodriguez. According to a ruling from the Ninth Court of Appeals, all seats on the board should be up for election on May 11.

Incumbents Woodrow Reece, Terry Williams, and Zenobia Bush will lose their seats to Gilmore, Forgas, and Rodriguez. Getz's clients are on the ballot unopposed.

Thursday the BISD board voted to appeal the decision to the Texas Supreme Court.

Donations are being accepted at Getz's office, PO Box 1083, Beaumont, TX. 77704 made payable to BETTER.

BISD will hold a special meeting at the board room Monday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m.
