Rhonda Kitchens is the News Content Manager at 12News

Rhonda Kitchens is a Sulphur native that has followed her passion for journalism to Los Angeles and Mobile, Alabama before settling back in her hometown to be closer to family and friends.

Rhonda attended McNeese State University where she studied Speech Communications and served as President of the McNeese chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.

She began her career at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, as an associate producer, quickly rising through the ranks as producer, reporter, and finally, weekend anchor. She then moved to Los Angeles where she landed a job as a news writer, one of the greatest highlights of her career. She has also served a news director at Cumulus Broadcasting and executive producer, reporter, and anchor at FOX29 in Lake Charles.

Community involvement has always been a big part of Rhonda’s life. Serving as chairperson of the Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis and recently being honored with the Brian Guilbeau Breath of Life Award. She has also been honored by Louisiana State Police for a campaign on seat belt use and by the Calcasieu District Attorney’s Office for a special series she produced on prescription drug abuse. She also earned multiple awards from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters.

When she’s not at work, Rhonda’s favorite activity is spending time with her family. She is the proud mother of three and grandmother of six. Rhonda says her love of family is what fuels her passion for telling stories that make a difference. Now that her career has shifted from behind the camera, her greatest joy at the office is to help instill that same passion in the next generation of reporters and producers on the front lines.
