LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Deputies at the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center say 52-year-old Lee Roy Williams Jr. is being held on $5 million bond as a material witness to a quadruple killing near Lake Charles. A sheriff's spokeswoman in East Baton Rouge says three men with Williams at the time of his arrest have been released after questioning.
MANSFIELD, La. (AP) - DeSoto Parish sheriff's deputies say a man who refused to prosecute his father-in-law for a shooting five years ago may have been shot by him again. Authorities say 74-year-old Alvis McKinney is charged with third-offense DWI as well as aggravated battery against 39-year-old Alvin Gentry.
MONROE, La. (AP) - The Louisiana High School Athletic Association has stripped Madison Parish High of its home season for last week's brawl on the football field. Wossman High got less severe penalties for the brawl that ended the season-opener with 4:05 left.
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The bank robbery suspect the FBI nicknamed the "Granddad Bandit" is due for his first federal court appearance in Virginia. A detention hearing is set today for 52-year-old Michael Francis Mara in Richmond. Mara is from Baton Rouge, La.
