While prostitutes worked the streets of Beaumont so were members of the Beaumont Police Department. 18 women and 1 man are facing charges following a 12-hour prostitution sting that began at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
According to police officers focused on the areas around Magnolia, Calder, 11th St, and Highland Dr. Police made the Class B Misdemeanor arrests while undercover officers worked with police in uniform to battle a prostitution problem reported by citizens.
Officer Randy Stevens says some of the women may face additional charges depending on what is revealed on background checks. If a woman has three prior convictions she faces state felony charges.
