Three firefighters, two paramedics and one civilian worked together and saved a life. Now one Beaumont man can tell his story.

On June 20th, around 8:45 PM, Larry Ward fell off his boat into the water at the Beaumont Yacht Club.
Fire Chief Anne Huff recognized the heroes at the Fire Headquarters today, one month later.

John Smith was out on the dock with Ward talking about repairing the Phoenix. Ward's boat.

Ward misjudged how far the boat was away from the dock.
Stepping off the boat, Ward hit is chin on the dock and was knocked unconscious.

When his wife Susan heard a splash she rushed to call 911.

Quickly Smith jumped in to the water and pulled Ward up to the surface. He then held the still unconscious Ward until the firefighters and paramedics arrived.

Responders believe Ward was underwater for about 3 minutes.

Ward was not seriously injured, just a sore chin and a foggy memory of the incident.

Ward and his wife still use their boat regularly. They are thankful they still can.
